Migration of Some of Richmond’s Most Successful Businesses to Scott’s Addition Continues

After 10 years in Innsbrook, staffing firm Morton Consulting is moving its office to 1008 North Sheppard Street, filling approximately 8,000 square feet of what used to be the Connor Brothers Collision Center at the corner of North Sheppard and West Marshall streets.

The move marks a new chapter for the veteran Richmond Company, which currently occupies 3,500 square feet in the Glen Allen office park that President Mark Morton described as small and inefficient for collaboration. The Scott’s Addition space, with its open floor plan, will improve collaboration while making room for 10 more employees, which the 12-person company plans to hire in the coming years.

“After a decade in Innsbrook and with the excitement surrounding Scott’s Addition, we felt now was the right time to make the move,” Morton said.

“This newly created space will dovetail nicely with the growth in Morton Consulting and continue to build upon the energy and vibe we have created through the years.”

The Company is purchasing the property, along with investor Brad Cummings, and is converting it from industrial to office space. Fultz and Singh are the architects for the project and the construction group will be selected this month. The space will be designed to house multiple office tenants, as well as a potential restaurant.

Morton Consulting worked with JLL’s Jimmy Appich. Morton said it considered many other spaces in Scott’s Addition, but liked this building and location the best.

Once renovation is complete, there will be signage added to the building’s brick façade.  The interior will be designed with a central gathering space for staff and clients to meet.

“The new building’s convenient location will be a great venue to host employees and customers.  We look forward to continuing to be part of the fabric of Richmond and deepening our roots within the community.”

Morton, who founded the company in 2006 and was named on the INC.’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies list in 2010, expects the new location to invigorate his staff, building on momentum that has increased with the addition of a new Chief Operating Officer in January.

Morton Consulting aims to move into the building in mid-2018.
